Retro kicks

It has been three weeks since I began this workout routine (one more and I get myself a pedi!). I see the trainer once a week and do the workout on my own on the other days. This week she stepped up my routine a bit, added some weights with the ever so painful planks and giving me some sort of kickboxing move where I am supposed to lift my knee and do a kick forward and then to the side while maintaining my balance, so being the good student, I got right to work alternating legs and all of a sudden some hard-wired drill team moves started resurfacing....no kidding. Before I knew it I was trying to add toe touches between kicks and little, bouncy hops. Oh my, my brain was trying to get me to do a high kick routine! I tried to tell my brain "that was 15 years ago, I am NOT that flexible anymore, and THIS IS NOT FUNNY!" But it wouldn't stop! I looked at my trainer feeling the need to explain my fumbling over something that should be so simple and told her my brain was trying to take me back to high school (enter a laugh of embarrassment here). All she could say was, "well, you sure are making it look pretty." HA! Good grief! Think I better practice that one before doing it on my own at the gym.
