Just thoughts

The New Year, whether it is intentional or not, always brings about thoughts of reflection and feelings of anticipation. Last year it was clear we had a big year ahead. Scott was finishing residency, we were anticipating a move and all that entails, Scott had written boards, Mary Ella was beginning kindergarten, Addy was starting a new preschool, Molly was changing daily and had food allergies, and I could go on and on. Over the last year, we've had struggles; however, we have also been blessed beyond belief. Often, when I do find time to blog, the stories that are remembered and written about are the good ones. There were plenty of days of exhaustion, short fuses, and many weak moments. It is not like those were the days I felt like getting on the computer, so those stories and moments are lost and forgotten. I like to keep this blog positive, so that when I do have those moments it is like going to my "savings account" of good that has happened to keep me going. I know it sounds corny, but it is what it is.

So as our family prepares for another year, we are, again, expecting some big events. For instance, Scott will be taking his oral boards in April. These are tough to prepare for. Imagine going room to room in a hotel and being quizzed one on one by different oral examiners. He passed his writtens in August making him eligible for this last step in his training. Of course, this also means many family and personal activities be put on hold because "not being prepared" is not in this man's vocabulary! We are praying this is the only time he has to do this.

We also have many friends going through intense struggles right now from those affected by Hurricane Ike to those affected by illness and other major struggles. Rest-assured, my sweet friends, ALL of you are also in our family's daily prayers. We hope these challenges continue to work towards resolution and that you would continually feel the cloak of God's unwavering grace around you.

Many blessings to you all and Happy New Year as well! Love, Us

At this very moment, Jack has a couple of day laborers doing Ike repairs with him at our stable property. Thank you for keeping us in your prayers - we need all the help we can get!

Happy New Year and many hugs!
