1. Hurricane Ike- Seeing these huge trees sway in the wind over your home is a little nerve racking, yet strangely hypnotizing at the same time.
2. A large oak over 100 years old dying and having to pay professionals to cut down and remove it...expensive.
3. Fall- The yard guys come pick up the leaves and after a breezy day our yard looks like this
My pathetic attempt to rake up the leaves. I gave up after our two older children began jumping in the piles and "redistributing" them. Can't complain....it provided at least an hour of entertainment. Now we don't rake to actually pick up the leaves, we play instead. The kids have loads of fun.

I used to love the way my Daddy smelled after coming in from working in the yard. You will love the trees again in the Spring. :)
The joys of playing outside and jumping in the leaves will give the girls great memories that they'll cherish. Despite having my own love/hate relationship with the falling leaves and their way of turning our pool into a chore instead of pleasure, I don't know that I would foresake the feeling I get for the time of year that lets you know winter is on its way and so many great and exciting things are on the way. I love the pictures of the house. I hope that you guys enjoy the holidays in your new home!
Did you move into my backyard without telling me? Seriously, those could have been pics on my camera.
And amen to the cutting down of the dead tree. We are about to make that appointment here...who knew it was so darn expensive???
And THANK GOD we can afford lawn guys to come vacuum those leaves because my hubby SURE doesn't have time for that! But the kids definitely enjoy crunching around in them!
