Addy's Egg Hunt

I was able to attend Addy's egg hunt this year. You can see how excited she was. She was the first one out of the shoot. However, she did not look so pleased when I wanted steal a hug and a picture with her. Guess I'm out of touch with how important egg hunting and candy eating is....
Oh well, won't be the last time!

Palm Sunday

We celebrated Palm Sunday by doing the annual Resurrection walk with the children. Our church puts this together every year and families walk the path of Christ leading up to the Cross. They certainly know more about the signs and symbols of this sacred season than I did as a child. We are blessed with a wonderful children's ministry team at Marvin UMC!

Listening intently to what the gentleman had to say about the stone

After the Resurrection Walk, we went on to hear our little song bird, Mary Ella sing for Palm Sunday. The girls also had fun waving the palm branches during the processional.

Preparing to sing

I still tear up any time one of our children performs. Guess that will never go away. It is a mother's "right" to be sentimental about anything and everything, isn't it???

Four and Hoppin'

It was yet another Jumpin Jacks party for the Burlison Birthday Girl. I don't complain because 1. It is climate-controlled 2. kids are continuously entertained 3. No clean up required. Easy, easy, did I say easy? Her favorite activity is the big slide and she was pretty insistent on incorporating the color blue, since it is her favorite color. You will see below that the cake turned out precious.

Before

After

The little man above is Addy's best friend, Riley. I saw this and my mind immediately fast-forwarded about 12 years. Don't let the look on her face fool you, Addy adores him and he couldn't be any sweeter. Such sweet friends they are!

Out on the Range

We traveled to Houston and Bleiblerville, Tx over Spring Break. In Houston, we took Mary Ella and Addy to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo where the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato were playing. "Wow" is all I have to say about that. Mary Ella spent the whole time blushing and Addy downed a whole bag of blue cotton candy in about 5 minutes...no exaggeration. Who knew girls could become boy crazy by age six??? Yet another little piece of information someone left out. Nevertheless, we had a great time while Molly played at Grandmom and Granddad's. Thank goodness they got their kitty and doggy fix there. From Houston we headed over to the Maedgen Roost for some farm fun.
Addy got her "blue" Snow White princess bike and Blondie, their yellow lab puppy had the seat torn off and consumed by day #2.
They enjoyed going to see the new calf and feeding the donkeys. It is the simplist things in life...

"Tickle Monster" fun with Bryan! Oh how the girls love this game of sneaking up on him thinking, "he surely isn't going to sneak up on him this time."

They had some dress-up fun in some of Noami's old clothes. They looked beautiful!!!

Then they got the sillies and went for my mom's wigs. I think they wore them well. We all got a good laugh! These girls truly squeeze every bit of joy out of fun moments!

Addy Scott turns FOUR

I've written this blog entry in my head what seems like 50 times. What can I possibly say about our now, four year old, middle daughter??? I think the picture above says it all. Our little Addy lives life out loud. She gallops everywhere she goes and her smile paired with her big brown eyes lights up even the darkest of places. Over this last year she has learned to speak more clearly, write her name and has become quite the experimentalist. I often find her making new "potions" or creating new uses for ordinary things. If only I could go where her little imagination takes her so often. She prides herself in new found independence whether it is buttoning up her shirt, buckling herself into her carseat or making her bed. Her self-confidence bubbles over. Now with her curiosity comes danger at times. She has also (we highly suspect), fractured her nose two times and has actually put a hole through her top lip over this last year. I often joke that Addy gets herself into predicaments that even she can't explain. She is just one of "those" people that unexplainable things happen to. I find myself holding my breath frequently when it comes to her and praying that God's hand of protection would just keep her safe. As a mom, I love nothing more than the fact that she still asks to snuggle with me and lets me shower her with hugs and kisses as I please. Somehow I get the feeling she'll be letting me do it forever, she's just that kind of girl. So Happy Birthday to our dear, sweet Addy Scott. There is truly none like you!
